i wish my school wasn’t enforcing this ‘career ready’ BS to high schoolers.

so basically my school is more of focusing on ‘career readiness’ and ‘college readiness’. i guess they think being certified by being one of the two will make you ‘successful’ in life. i myself am considered college ready because i hit the benchmark on my ACT for my state or maybe nationwide-idk. but i do plan on going to college anyway. for the career readiness thing- oh boy. it’s like teachers want to enforce it on you- specifically my elective teachers. in my school, they expect you to have a career pathway based off of the electives you stuck with. so if you have mostly done culinary, your career pathway in high school would be culinary. idek what my career pathway was because i was just a student at that time before i found out what i wanted to do during my senior year. i chose my electives for fun.…

so basically my school is more of focusing on ‘career readiness’ and ‘college readiness’. i guess they think being certified by being one of the two will make you ‘successful’ in life.

i myself am considered college ready because i hit the benchmark on my ACT for my state or maybe nationwide-idk. but i do plan on going to college anyway.

for the career readiness thing- oh boy. it’s like teachers want to enforce it on you- specifically my elective teachers. in my school, they expect you to have a career pathway based off of the electives you stuck with. so if you have mostly done culinary, your career pathway in high school would be culinary. idek what my career pathway was because i was just a student at that time before i found out what i wanted to do during my senior year. i chose my electives for fun.

i had to take a test for culinary that would make me ‘career ready’, i failed that test by 1 point. one of my other electives made me take a marketing test that could make me career ready- i failed that by 8 points- my teacher seemed a bit devastated but oh well.

the point is- is why does my school want to enforce this? i’m going to college FOR MY CAREER- and there are high schoolers that may join the workforce after graduating- BUT THATS NOT MY PROFESSION. to put it this way: my dream job is to be an endocrinologist. no matter what i do in high school, it’s not gonna give me a shortcut. i still have to attend college for four years. i still have medical school to worry about. and also, what if i wanted to change my career goals during college- so why enforce me to be career ready IN HIGH SCHOOL.

i live in a republican city in a republican state- boomers are treated as wise gods who also praise trump. it’s a place where everyone says “nobody wants to work anymore” while they still agree to give the working class minimum wage. i guess seeing this ‘career ready/college ready’ bullshit just makes them orgasm and fulfill their needs by seeing children certified as another ‘useless’ worker to satisfy the rich- i mean cooks at mcdonald’s are just seen as ‘patty flippers’ to these old fucks. also going to college to just be in debt makes boomers orgasm- just weird.

america sucks.
