I realized my friend (My manager) was never my friend.

So well this guy was a manager but he out in his 2 weeks and actually got a normal non management job somewhere cause he didn’t like it. Idk he wasn’t a fan of work and shit on it a lot so I kind felt like he was legit and on the workers side (and we had some shared interests (Star Wars and Lego sets and shit) maybe to some degree he was or he thought he was. I thought on it and I realized that he kind of played the role of a friend when he actually had a lot of shitty things he said about my “work ethic” and shit behind my back (though I will say the whole “work ethic” shit got in my head to after awhile of working at that place been a month since I left and it’s brought me alot of clarity) Beyond…

Beyond him talking behind my back I thought back on some things and realized. Throughout my time working there he kind of held me back (in my opinion anyways) like idk I almost feel like he kept me complacent… (he was complacent himself and would vent to me about it) but ironically the same exact behavior done to him by other managers and like he always kind of got walked all over by other management he wasn’t taking seriously given the age. But that doesn’t give him the right to do it to other people.

I feel bad for this dude. i quit and I realized his bullshit work was, and he quit and just invested himself fully into another job. Seems to hold the same views about work ethic and shit.

And I’m just thinking what does it matter anyways?
Honestly shocked I fell for the “manager is your friend” thing.

I think perhaps at some point he had genuine interest but that was replaced by just using it to manipulate me at work.
Other managers have tried to pull the “buddy” shit and I never fall for it but I fell for it with this dude and it sucks.
