Me- recently promoted senior maintenance technician for large indoor resort water park.
Boss: I need you to start giving the other shifts items to do during their shift, please make sure it’s getting done.
Me: after giving them said items l noticed acid was not being turned on in the mornings causing ph issues in the pools. I send out 1st and only group text to remind everyone acid needs to be checked to make sure it’s turned on daily.
Boss: why did you ask them to check the acid? I think you are micromanaging.
Few days later…after park is closed for the evening
Boss: My wife looks like this (provides description) if you see her please radio me, I’ll be in the hot with (not his wife).
Few weeks later….
Boss turns off phone, can’t be reached, major air quality issue arises at work. Bosses boss calls me so l can walk him through what’s going on and how to resolve issue as l am not at work, had night off.
Next day….
Boss: you shouldn’t feel like you have to answer your phone if you’re not at work, you’re not salary, that’s my job.
Me: you didn’t answer when your boss was calling, everyone was panicking, what should I have done?
Boss very angry: just tell the GM I told you it’s not your responsibility.
Me walking away to update my resume: I think you should have just said thank you to me.
