My cashier @ CVS, Denise, was complaining how ”you can’t hire nobody that wants to work no more!”
Well Denise, Nobody ever WANTED to work. we WANT to draw, paint, dance, make music, etc but work has always been an unfortunate necessity of life. But when ppl work full time and still can’t make ends meet while the company they work for makes millions but refuses to pay them a living wage, it has an incredibly demoralizing affect on said workers who don’t want to bust their ass for a company that doesn’t give a damn about them.
When teachers ask kids what they want to do when they grow up, I highly doubt a single one has ever answered “I want to work in Retail!”
