I am going to try and keep this as brief as possible. This isn't just affecting me but multiple folks in my work space.
I work for the villages, big retirement community. In our building we have schedulers, cash closers and finance closers. the finance closers are kinda apart of us but they're their own company.
Anyway, the cash closers and finance folks for the most part get along. I get along with everyone like I go out of my way to be extra nice or I try my best. I am a cash closer, there's like idk 7 of us. we do not have an active supervisor. we are all considered equals that follow the same rules w/e.
well we used to have a supervisor before my time. the old supervisor from what I heard is a complete nut. she would basically control everything, she needed your passwords, usernames for everything to read your emails. would tell you that you are not allowed to talk and if you do you'd have to share with everyone. like just really petty controlling to. well the og closers filed an hr complaint and got supervisor removed.
now enter me to the picture, I came right after she kicked the can. well of the 7 current closers, 2 were the og's that experienced this crazyness. I get to hear about it everyday. But see these two have turned into their old supervisor.
again, we don't have a supervisor but these two are the most experienced. granted our work is not hard just has to be right. these two have received complaints from almost everyone in our building. they are condescending when you ask them questions, they will tell you to 'shut-up' and if they have an issue with you, they won't tell you. they just tell our big boss and tell co-workers their complaints. it's very frustrating when a 65 year old woman is too cowardly to address an issue with a 27 yr m about something like filing.
just yesterday, one of the finance closers went to use the coffee maker in our shared kitchen. two cash closers (newer) went in the break room and asked the FC a question. well one of the two og's came running in the room and said “you cannot ask them any questions” they said ” i value her opinion and I can ask anyone any question I want.”
now I have complained multiple times to my boss about their petty behavior. like it's just overall very petty things and they treat folks like shit. it hasn't changed in a year. we need a supervisor honestly. but it's a hell environment to work in, I told my boss months ago they're the reason I am looking for a new job. not the job itself.
so idk I don't care anymore and just over it. I am ready to go to hr and I have other folks to back me up since many folks feel this way. just wondering what random strangers think.
