So I work at a nursing home as a dietary aide but I hate it and was told by the previous manager who hired me (he quit bc he hated it too), that I could switch to activities if I was so inclined to. well two months later and Im still here and they keep telling me “soon I will be in activities.” Im sick of it and I already have a short term job lined up afterwards so I have 2 questions:
1.) if I have a handbook that says it requires I resign by a two weeks notice can they withhold my pay? I live in Michigan btw. I never signed a contract for that but its in the handbook now that I just looked.
2.) is this a good resignation letter? I want it to read as a peaceful mutual split of employee and employer.
“Dear (manager),
I would like to begin by saying thank you to yourself and the team for giving me the pleasure to work with WellBridge of Fenton for
the past couple of months. You’ve all been extremely kind and made a pivotal development in my social skills as a person. I will truly miss you all. I’ve recently been stressed out to the max from my dietary aide position and have decided to try a different field of work, my uncles GM shop. I will be leaving May 18, 2022; ie effective immediately. My new job requires I start this weekend so this is my letter of resignation. I truly thank you (names)- for the opportunity of growth you provided at your company. “
