Got an email saying “we are 45 days away from going back onsite”.
I work for the federal government. In IT. I stare at a computer screen all day and work on servers and different application.
I’ve been doing it from home fine for the past two years (I was hired when the office was closed). Our whole team and ENTIRE IT department has proven we work just fine from home.
Why would you then want ppl back onsite? Just because? Just so you can stare at them?
I LOVE working in IT for the government just simply for the job security and also Insurance (I have a bunch of dental work that needs to be done ) 95% of the people who work in IT for the government often retire there ( I have a long way to retirement. I graduated college in 2019).
However I’m really starting to look at contract jobs that offer no befits just so I can stay working remotely .
Don’t get me wrong, there are positions within the government in IT that are remote, but like I said those positions are often filled with people who are going to be there for the next 20, 30, and 40 years. So they are really hard to come by.
I honestly just want to win the lottery and say fuck it all
