I work Nightcrew stocking shelves. I'm new to working and still learning. What happened was i took my Rest break just before my shift ended because i forgot to in the middle and my coworker (he's been working nightcrew the longest) came to the break room to ask me to not take my rest breaks at the end of my shift because it causes issues. Also after my rest break ended, I immediately packed up and left and while I was outside waiting for my ride, the same guy came out to scold me about leaving even though my shift ended. Said something like “just like i can send you home a few minutes early, i can keep you a few minutes late”.
Question 1. Can I take my rest break anytime during my shift as I see fit?
Question 2. If he asks me to stay longer, am I required to? I do not believe he's a person in charge if that matters.
I live in Oregon if it matters.
