I am in a trial period at my job where I am paid my agreed upon salary at an hourly rate. Next month I will switch over to salary, but the thing is, I don’t want to. I want to be a full time hourly employee. I work in construction management and I’ve found that in salaried positions upper management has no respect for your time. If I work 60 hours a week, I want to be compensated for 60 hours a week. When employers have to pay you 1.5x your pay, it makes them think twice about making you work over 40 hours a week. It keeps everyone honest.
I am new to this company and somewhat worried that asking to stay hourly may reflect poorly on me. Anyone ever gone through this thought process and made a request like this?
