I took a job a little while ago at a big chain department store. When I took the job I was happy with the pay, part time hours and I thought I would be out early in the day. Well that isn’t what ended up happening. I’ve been working full time ever since minus a week or two. Not to mention working 6-7 days straight with a day off here and there. Plus I’ve been working late into the evenings when I was told I would be done in the early afternoon.
I’ve had to take the last two days off for a family emergency and reflected a little. I decided I was going to put my two weeks in today and as I’m driving this morning I thought “fuck this, I don’t owe them anything”. This company didn’t have the decency to be up front with me about the amount of hours/days straight I would be working. Or the fact that all the work would be dumped onto me. Why do they deserve the decency of putting my notice in? I work part time for extra money not to be miserable, tired and worked like a dog…
