There's something I see happening from time to time on this sub: a post or comment decrying the actions of boomers (individually or collectively) and a portion of the responses saying “I'm not like that”', “Please don't lump us all in the same group”, “Ageism!”, etc.
The baby boomer generation has been around for longer, enjoyed more privilege, made more decisions, cast more votes, than any successive generation. And all those decisions, all those votes, every bit of inaction has given all of us the world we have now.
This is the exact same nonsense as #notallmen arguments. Too many boomers have voted in 'bought' political advocates, too many boomers haven't protected their labour rights or those of others.
If your first instinct when hearing criticism of boomers is to think and say “That's not me!”, then please reflect on why you're taking it as a personal attack. If you know this criticism isn't about you, that you are a good and powerful boomer ally, then let it wash over you. Recognise that you are still a part of that generation and too many of your brothers and sisters have sleepwalked us into this pile of shit modern day.
