My job just asked that I help if needed when on my lunch break?

Hi all, this is my first post on this subreddit. I’m a seasonal worker in Alaska for a souvenir shop. We’re currently understaffed until more help comes in, so things get a little hairy every day (we’re all expected to do more things than usual, multitask between checking out customers and keeping the floor stocked and neat, etc.) and the other day, I was radioed while on my lunch break. Now, I’m not entirely sure if the person radioing me knew I was on lunch, but I notified them and they didn’t bother me again. However, the cashier who’s been training me notified me that when things get crazy busy and they radio me while I’m on break, I’m expected to drop everything I’m doing/eating and go help, with a promise of “we’ll extend your lunch break, though”. Is this…legal? It sounded really off-color to me and not very OK…

(Tl;dr my job expects me to work during lunch break if they need me with a promise of an extended break)
