Advice regarding UK/France dispute at work

I was hired on a UK contract to work on a new branch of a French Business expanding in the UK. Due to various factors the UK expansion stopped and the company let go few employees. As I am apparently a ‘key talent’ they offered me to switch on the French scope, which I accepted few weeks ago. Being a French citizen myself, I have asked the head of department + my line manager + the HR to come back to France and get a French contract (I can elaborate why if you want). Head of and line manager agreed that it was the most logical solution. However, it seems hardly achievable as HR said a French contract is more expensive for the company than a UK one.

(Company is not in a great financial state atm, all recruitment are frozen in France too)
They also said they would not convert my pay; eg if I am earning £60k they will give me €60k; basically a pay cut.

I therefore have few questions for people with a bit of work international laws

  • Am I allowed to generate revenues for a French entity while being a UK employee (eg I am not in the country where I am creating the value)

-Are they allowed to refuse me that French contract because it’s more expensive for them

-Are they allowed to give me a ‘pay cut’ like that knowing that it will be the same job?

Few infos: I am a French citizen with pre settlement status, full time contract, residing in the Uk

I really like my company, we actually help people through our business, perks are amazing (unlimited holidays), so I don’t really want to leave.

If they really don’t want to give me the French contract I will probably move to France for the 6months period allowed by law then leave. But that’s really the last option I want.

Tl;dr
French company asking me to work on French scope after closing UK branch, but not wanting to give me a French contract. (I’m French citizen and want to come back home)
