Corporate sent out a mass email in regards to the shooting that happened advising us to “Take time for ourselves if we need it” which was thoughtful however followed by “Check with your supervisors to get that time approved” to which supervisors denied my request because we were busy.

Just thought of how hollow this statement came across as our capitalist overlords acknowledge this borderline national tragedy yet still have the gall to be like “well we can't stop working over some dead children, we have money to make!” Honestly makes me just as sick as I felt when I first heard of the shooting. Tried to “request” this time that was suggested by corporate as per the email suggested but my managers denied the time request due to us being busy. Absolutely absurd. I have family that live in that area that luckily weren't swept up in that tragic event and I wanted to take time to call them but management won't let me until my scheduled break or when I get off work. What a fucking world we live in.
