Background: Environmental Engineering Major, 5 years in the Navy as an E5, I'm 26, have a mortgage, etc.
My college requires an internship. I got one with the Water Department. For the city, my unit is supposed to have atleast 15 people… we have 3. I'm the 4th. I am expected to perform at the same level as full time employees, doing the same tasks, plus admin. I am teaching the new engineer on site who has a masters. I've learned what i needed to learn before i started, and essentially the first week was matching what was in the manuals. All this and i receive a half of pay with no benefits at $17/hr. No benefits or compensation of any kind. Everyone is unionized except me and I've had a general question of a saftey training and HR has never responded to me. I feel the vibe in the department is I'm temporary, no union protection, and no one gives a shit. I want to quit so bad. This is just a rant and I'm tired
