Quick story from back when I was a baggage handler for Northwest Airlines.

I worked for several years as a baggage handler for Northwest Airlines. They had a deal where if you had perfect attendance for, I believe it was 5 years, they would give you an all-expenses, week-long, vacation to Hawaii. This one dude on my unit (a unit at that time was 3 gates that a team of 8-10 were responsible for all flights there) was one day away from perfect attendance. He had no disciplinary history, so the entire day a manager shadowed our unit and shadowed the flights he was working on. They took this manager off his concourse and off his duties to find a way to prevent the company from having to pay for his vacation. Until the very end of the day we go outside to a designated smoking area on the ramp (ramp = tarmac) and the manager comes speeding up and gives him a Level (“level” = disciplinary action) for not wearing a vest outside.

There's like 6 of us without vests on. The only one who got the level was my coworker about to get a free vacation for perfect attendance. It was a 2 minute write-up process, then the manager left.
