r/antiwork saved me $5000 on my taxes for 2021 By pointing out my employer illegally classified me as a 1099

I was in this sub in 2021 talking about my work situation and a few people commented encouraging me and correcting me. My small business former employer had filed me as a 1099 contractor opposed to a W2 employee so they didn’t have to pay payroll tax. After I talked to the IRS and the Department of Labor, I became aware that this is very illegal and they’re auditing them. You can’t just claim your employees as 1099’s to avoid paying payroll tax. Big thanks to this sub, I just filed my taxes and am saving $5k that I previously was going to have to pay as a 1099. Small business owners or corporations, they can all be evil and wicked. Don’t let the bastards keep you down.
