Company loses workers because minimum wage is almost double in the next state over.

I recently interviewed for a manager position for a company in Pennsylvania, right on the Pennsylvania/Maryland border. While discussing the job details it was brought up that they have trouble keeping workers because they pay $7.25 minimum wage for Pennsylvania, when 10 minutes across the border the minimum wage in Maryland is $12.50. 🤔🥴 brain teaser that one.
