I am 37 and have been working various jobs for 20 years (over 25 if you count babysitting) and have never asked for a raise. My first annual review is coming up at my current company and I would like to ask for one. I thought of writing a letter to my boss that mentions the inflation as well as my accomplishments and accolades over the past year. Then I would request a range–like a 4 to 10 percent increase or something. I would give the letter to her a few weeks before my annual review, along with samples of my work and the required annual review paperwork, so she has time to think on it. Does this sound good to people here? Do you have any other advice? As I said, I'm a newbie at this. Thank you!
