Lesson learned, I won’t hand in my two weeks next time

I debated a long time whether I should provide a notice since I'm quitting my awful temp job and I've found a way better WFH one. I've been told giving notice is the right thing to do, but I was worried about early termination. I didn't want to miss out on my last weeks of income, I need that money to make rent. Eventually I decided it was probably the right thing to do, I did like my coworkers and I wanted to prepare them for the transition. I have also been redesigning this company's website and wasn't quite finished with it yet. This was supposed to be my last week of work and I just got a text from my boss telling me not to come in this week. I feel burned and all because of what, I was trying to be a decent person? They haven't given me…

I'm fed up with this idea of “you have to put in your two weeks because it will impact future employers opinion of you.” Where is the same accountability on their end? How can I tell future employees, “Hey if you're going to quit your job at this business make sure you give them zero notice”?

This is a bit of a rant because I'm angry but I hope it can inspire some others out there NOT to hand in a two weeks. When you're ready to quit, just walk out.

At least I can feel satisfied that their website will never be finished. I was the only one who knew anything about web design there so hope they have fun with that mess. The last guy there who tried to edit the website ended up deleting the entire page, lol
