I just spent an hour this afternoon being told by my boss that the company isn't seeing the sales growth they hoped for so are laying off a bunch of the people they hired last fall. After the 8th time my boss told me how hard this was for him I finally said “Yeah no, I'd hate to be in your shoes right now, this must really suck”. Then he backpeddaled saying that isn't what he meant and went on about how much he cares about me and then yet again made it about how much it sucks for him.
It's unfair the company is firing people. It's unfair that managers are the ones forced to do so. It's unfair to hire people because you THINK you'll be doing well just to kick them out when you don't. It's cruel all around, and it's one of the billion reasons we all hate corporate.
