Asked to interview with 10+ people??

TLDR: Company blows off initial interview only to ask candidate to interview with 10 people. Job has been posted for 9+months (red flag) Applied to a job within my field of expertise that had been posted for 30+ days on LinkedIn. Got a reply from the recruiter within a few hours to set up a time to talk about the role. Day of call arrives and I have spent some time prepping to ensure I present my best self. Call time comes and goes, with no call. I check my email and see that 1 minute before the call was scheduled to start the recruiter emailed and said the position had been filled. TLDR: Company blows off initial interview only to ask candidate to interview with 10 people. Job has been posted for 9+months (red flag)

Applied to a job within my field of expertise that had been posted for 30+ days on LinkedIn. I do not reply and go about continuing my job search. About 10 days later I see the same job has been posted again on LinkedIn. It takes about 10 more days for the recruiter to reach out to me, and ask if I am still interested in interviewing for the role. Annoyed, but interested, I agree to take the initial call. She is enthusiastic about my experience and wants to advance me in the process. She is pushy and wants to schedule the next steps asap. I postponed due to having some other interviews scheduled and agreed to another call early the next week (first call Thursday, next call Monday). Second call goes great and I hear a few days later that they would like to bring me on-site to interview with 2 more people. On-site visit and both interviews go well. I hear nothing from them for 3 days and then receive a message that they would like to have me come back for a final round of interviews (on-site). I provide my availability and expect to hear back relatively quickly. 5 days later I receive an agenda for the on-site interviews that have me interviewing with 6 people over the course of 2 hours and 15 min, oh and it's scheduled for 2 days later. I kindly informed them that my availability had changed in the 5 days that I hadn't heard from them and I had already committed to interviews that overlapped with the timeframe they proposed. I also told them I had already interviewed with 4 people (2 of which would be working with me directly and have the hiring power for this position) and I was not interested in interviewing with 6 additional people for this role. (total of 10 people) I told the company that if that was an issue that they could withdraw my application. Why is it that companies put potential candidates in front of so many people to make a hiring decision? This has not been my experience in the past, meeting with 2-3 (maybe 4) at the most and then a decision was made. Are the silos at this company making it so challenging for them to make a single hiring decision?
