So I got a job in a production facility 2 years ago. (Not naming them as I am dealing with a work comp thing) . This place was hands down the most toxic place I have ever worked. I fell about a month ago and serially injured myself. Since the injury I was told I was not dependable, I was worthless, etc. This was just the icing on the cake. Last week, I was told that I'd be better off dead. So I just clocked out and left. Screw that. Got a new job two days later.
I started at my new place three days ago. I just got a raise today. And this was after a major screw up on my part . I dropped a production piece. An expensive production piece and it broke. Last one in the plant. Went to my supervisor expecting to be yelled at, put down and fired.
No. Was told “bet you won't do that again will ya?” Then was asked to go into the office. I'm thinking, welp, that didn't last long.
No. Supervisor tells me that I'm worth more than what they are paying me. He's putting me in for 4 dollars an hour more, retro to Monday. He tells me that they are glad that they hired me.
The whole atmosphere here is different. Everyone is helpful. They truly work as a team. It's relaxed. They provide snacks. They have gym on site. The average tenure of the employees is 25 years.
It's going to take a minute to get used to this. There are good places out there that value their employees. Who knew?
