I graduated from UCLA last year with a 3.83 GPA with two competitive federal political internships under my belt. It’s not as much experience as others, but I suppose it’s better than nothing. After I graduated, I got a temporary job as a COVID tester working on the frontlines, testing hundreds of people a day. I would have thought this would at least get me a pity interview.
When I graduated, my college had me believe that I would be perfectly fine and get a career starting job right away. Well, they were wrong, seeing as almost a year later I have applied to over 200 jobs and only gotten 1 interview. Ironically, this interview was for a mid-level position that paid around 6-figures. I didn’t get the job, considering I was grossly under-qualified, but I get that. I went in expected to not get hired, but why am I not even getting interviews for a data entry role? I have extensive excel experience, I have extensive coding experienec, and yet no one wants to hear from me? I am applying for jobs far below what I want. I have spoken to career counselors, and even they say my resume should be enough to get at least an interview.
And here I am waiting for an MRI to see if my cancer is back. What a fucked up world we live in
