its pretty crazy that your boss views you as some type of slave who will just blindly go along with any sketchy shit they deem necessary
even if its something you know is wrong and has no tangible benefits whatsoever
im posting this here because this isn't just a one-off thing, pretty much every single job i've ever had (and ive worked in tech, trades, factories, fast food, and more), i was expected to do some shady thing rather frequently. or, if i wasn't asked directly, there were some situations where bad things were happening and you were supposed to just ignore it. i've also seen this happen to many other people who i've worked with. i've seen what happens to people who refuse (they usually get let go or contracts cancelled), and people who do what is told of them (they get raises/promotions). some of the people who did as they were told ended up having big consequences as a result (think prison, personal injury, damaged relationships, etc)
if you don't go along with these things, you are a “bad employee”, you're not a “company minded person”, etc.
