I think I’m getting fired and I’m terrified
Since a month or two now I’ve noticed a change in my boss’ behavior, especially since I got surgery about 4 weeks ago and got 15 days of medical leave (she did not like that). Prior to that, I had noticed that more and more of my tasks were being given to someone else to do them. In my area, when your boss does that, it could mean you’re being moved or replaced, often the latter. This started happening after I kept working remotely even when it was an option to go back to the office. I chose not to. Also when I refused to work late & ok weekends without being paid to do so.
Moving onto today, I had a call with my boss where she insisted that I give all my responsabilities to someone who has been in the company for 3-4 months (I’ve been here 3 years) and that on monday she wants to have a meeting because she’s thinking about moving me to another department, knowing damn well I don’t want to work in that department. She either wants to fire me or wants me to quit and I don’t know which one is it. She also questioned my job a lot which she never did. Lots of people saw wrong that I took a medical leave but I had surgery and they expected me to return to work that same week…
However, I truly need the job & the money because my mom is moving in a few weeks and I’ll be living alone with no support whatsoever. I also have loans, rent and lots of responsibility.
I talked to a coworker about it and he agreed that they want to fire me or want me to quit so they dont have to pay for law benefits. I’m sad and worried and I don’t know if I’m making this up in my head or they are truly gonna fire me.
What should I do?
