Exhaustion/No Breaks/Verge of Quitting

I work at a typical fast food shop where we are dealing with being short staffed as heck. I have worked at this place for almost a year now. Because of the tip money; I am finally able to start paying off some debt I have so I am hesitant to look elsewhere for a job. Every day is just chaos. From the start of my shift to the end of my shift, I am running nonstop. I am constantly answering the phones, dealing with unruly customers, cleaning up messes, getting orders out, doing dishes, asking a bunch of questions (because there was never any training for this, I was thrown in). There are no breaks other than to use the bathroom (which even when I am in the bathroom, I am getting yelled for). I always count down the hours until we close shop so at least I only…

I always count down the hours until we close shop so at least I only have to focus on the one task of cleaning up from the chaos.

After being here almost a year now, I feel like I am finally getting the hang of things; like the computer system, how to work the phones, how to fill the prep table, how to do the basics of my job. I am able to do the work of numerous people and am told every day how much I am appreciated as an employee. Going through an emotionally difficult time of my life, this shop restored my mental health. I actually met my fiance at this place and life is so good.

At what cost though, I feel so burned out on my days off. We had crazy sales last night and we did not even have near enough staff for it. The customers were brutal and uncaring. I almost walked out from the stress but I also have to pay bills. My tip money is less when it is like this because customers won't tip when they are waiting hours for their food to be delivered so it brings my hourly down to minimum wage.

Do I quit and find another job? The unknown of a new environment scares me.
