Then find you a good one and don’t settle!
Been wanting to post this for a while but now finally am ready to share some thoughts [burner account].
Background: me, fairly intelligent, hard working, some college (basically bachelor level w/o the paper), passionate person who really tries to do their best each day.
Worked for 7 years(!) for a company that would absolutely never let anyone advance. It was flexible so whatever, it worked at the time. Quit after an ex-employee tried to run me over in the parking lot (story for another time)
Took another job that seemed great at first but soon came to find that every single day I pulled into that parking lot, I’d rather just die right then and there. Toxic, terrible mission, stale, depressing environment.
After a year of that depressing job, my partner and I couldn’t take it anymore, dropped everything and up and moved to our dream state. Hands down, best decision of my life (besides my partner 🙂 )
…First job here was just a stepping stone but hated it even more than depressing job! (pretty sure it’s a front company for a massive scam operation… sorry for another time)
Finally, after four months of applying, found a truly fantastic place to work. I’ve never been treated so damn well and actually challenged personally and professionally.
Got my first promotion in six months, (then COVID hit so all promotions paused). Second promotion two years later.
Just completeled the 2021 review, got a raise over the inflation rate and a double bonus to make up for inflation. Like WHAT
Just received my offer for the new promotion which came out to a 30% raise from current salary. Negotiated to a 40% raise no problem (FYI: NEVER LEAVE MONEY ON THE TABLE!)
Crazy.
anyway, just sharing cause I see so many loved ones suffering through things they might be able to change. There’s never been a better time for workers to radically improve circumstances however possible. (Thank you anti-work!)
For me, a refusal to continue to accept situations I despise has led to me over tripling my income and now becoming a homeowner.
Don’t settle. You are worth so much more. Much love y’all.
