How can a single person do it?

I'll cut right to the point. I am a 37 year old male. I went through a bunch of stuff. Crappy stuff over the course of the last decade and a half. I am currently back to living with my parents after my girlfriend of 13 years and I broke up. She had a 1 year old daughter when I first started dating her. This was not an issue fire me at the time, and it currently is also not an issue. I am dad. But anyways my girlfriend became abusive so slowly and steadily over the course of 10 years, that I almost didn't even realize it. By the end it was pretty bad but I won't get into that here. I have held the same job for the past 13 years as well. I am finally actually making a sorta ok hourly wage when compared to pretty much…

I have held the same job for the past 13 years as well. I am finally actually making a sorta ok hourly wage when compared to pretty much any other employer in my immediate area. The thing is, I have an associates degree in communication and I work at a shitty potato storage facility. But I suppose that's also another story.

Anyways, I've been trying to save money, and I have a decent stash built up of cash in my savings, but it took a long time for that to happen. I've lived at my parents for the past 4 years. But I do still have some bills.

TLDR: I have recently been looking at the cost of rent, utilities, food, car insurance, and gas and have realized that with the wage I currently earn, I'll never be able to afford my own place to rent. Let alone purchase.
