Child labor, government job

Hi. I am not sure just how illegal this job was, but I thought it was a story some people would feel angry about. I am a U.S. citizen that moved to a country in Asia at the age of twelve because of a parent that took a job with the state department as a diplomat. We lived on an embassy compound, and on that compound there is a community support center that basically acted as the place Americans could go to drink, swim, etc. I can only assume that the entire thing is paid for by tax dollars. They offered a job for anybody older than thirteen to work at their child day care, and my parents made me apply despite being twelve. I was offered the job because my birthday was close. A lot of the children that I was taking care of weren't even American, which is strange because I don't think they were supposed to have access to the compound, but whatever. Some of them were also older than me. There was no real supervision during this job and it was terrible because I was made to feel liable for these other children. I'm posting this because I'm absolutely certain that this job was illegal. I did not have a work visa, and this job violated child labor laws both in the U.S. as well as in the country we were posted. There are likely no options for legal recourse, but I thought some of you might appreciate that even the government doesn't follow its own labor laws.
