I’m 22f in California
So, I’ve been with my company since the end of august. When I was hired, I was offered $18/hr (later learned that was the lowest end of our pay scale for my position) and I was the only full time team member in my position. I live really far from work and my commute is easily 50+ miles one way. We get paid miles as well as hourly on our drive time. Because of this, I was doing alright because I was able to accrue some decent OT with my commute.
My job is similar to a traveling salesperson in that I travel to different locations where my companies product is sold and promote it for a couple hours.
It’s been known that my commute was a point of contention for our director and payroll dept. they’ve been pestering me asking when I’ll be able to move but life situations have been preventing that, I also feel that it’s none of their business.
The problem comes in that during the last few weeks, I’ve only been scheduled for 8 hours for the whole week. If they had an issue w my commute I could understand scheduling me for less events/hours but to cut me to 8 hours for the week seems insulting and very pointed.
I’ve scheduled a meeting with our marketing director, my boss, and HR but would appreciate some tips on what would be a good way to proceed. Willing to answer most questions (NDA)
Also, my marketing director had requested the meeting be at 9:15am however when I saw her calendar I noticed she actually didn’t have the time available and had other meetings going on. This makes me feel like they were never going to take me seriously at all. I’ve wondered if they’re trying to force me to quit because they can’t find a reason (there’s a reason I’m our only FT employee)
