I’m leaving a company I’ve worked at for two years. My boss recently promoted me, leading to a pay cut because I’m out of most of a tip pool now. I get blamed for things I’m not in charge of. And most recently, my boss and the owner jumped down my throat because I mentioned that several employees, directly under me that I’m in charge of, were grossly underpaid. One in particular was paid under the state minimum wage. That was my friend who I just got hired by the general manager. I told him it was a rough job, but it paid well. I told management that this is serious and could be potentially reported to the state labor board. They told me that I cannot discuss wages. That I am not a spokesperson for these people who I am in charge of. On top of all this, I am the only person there who can open and operate this restaurant’s front of house by myself for the majority of the morning, also the only one in direct contact with a majority of the distributers, the only one who has done inventory for the last 8 months.
I have 12 interviews lined up in a different industries now. I have drafted my resignation letter and will be sending it out after an interview in two hours. The company pays almost the same, but I’ll save on commute costs. Fuck this bullshit. I’ve blocked their phone numbers, emails, and on all social media. They can all go to hell, I’m going to any other place I can.
