I need some real world data here…
My local news station is on this kick, particularly one reporter, that people don't want to work anymore. (Truthfully no one does…) I want to provide real world experiences to this reporter so that HOPEFULLY they'll consider doing a bit from the other side.
Now I know there's a portion of people in here who are gonna bring up capitalism being bad, a portion who talk about the ultra rich being evil, a portion who just plain old don't want to work, a portion who hates money, and a portion who just want a living wage. This is NOT the post to complain and offer an opinion.
The fact is, our current economic system is what it is. You need money to pay for the goods and services you need/want. And typically that requires having a job or owning a business. Something that generates money.
So here's what I want to know from the last 12 months:
How many jobs have you applied for?
How many interviews have you had?
Have you been an extended a job offer? If so, how many? Did you accept one? Are you continuing to look for a job even after being hired?
What kind of jobs have you applied for?
What skills do you have/what's your background?
I'll provide mine here:
Over 75
~10, with 2 cancellations by the employer
Yes, 1 part time subcontractor gig and yes, I'm still looking for full time employment
WordPress/web development and/or digital marketing
Lots, but relevant backgrounds are; retail, management, sales, web development, marketing
