Everyday I feel more and more unlucky to be american

Compared to some countries, our work culture SUCKS. Specifically compared to european countries. Many countries in and around Europe, including the UK. Many of them get 25-30 days paid days off, and that's the minimum, the legal required amount. Then many of these countries have guaranteed maternity and/or paternity leave, an awesome sick leave policy, etc. Meanwhile in America, some people, no, not even some, many, get 0 days. Some people have literally have no sick time, no vacation time, nothing. We've got FMLA, “woooo” just gotta wait for a family member to die, for me to get a debilitating medical condition, or for me to have a child and I'm entitled to 12 weeks of UNPAID vacation, but I can still keep my job.
And even then fmla is a pain to get.
Thankfully my current job and my last job offered pretty good vacation time(in American standards)
My last job we got 2 paid holidays, and about 120 hours of PTO, we just couldn't use it on September, November, December, or January, unless none of the bosses had off then(retail) I got the end of January off once and literally had to fight for it for 3 weeks straight and the only reason it was approved was b/c other bosses vouched for me.
My current job is somewhat corporate so we get all the federal holidays as well as maybe a couple non federal holidays, and 3 weeks of paid leave, which is really just 15 days. We have sundays off and are open for a half day on Saturdays.
Sick leave is decent as well, in total I think it's 2 weeks(10 days).
But, on average, if you stay at a company for 15-20 years, most people(again on average) aquire about 20 days of vacation…..AFTER 20 years.
THATS INSANE.
One of my co workers were telling me how our job is the most vacation time he's ever had and he's like 40 years old and has had jobs at some larger companies. Meanwhile I've gotta decide whether I want to visit my family once or twice this year while also trying to balance atleast one vacation of my own somewhere else. Whether I should visit them twice for 1 week each, or once for 2 weeks in an entire year(then 1 week for myself).
Meanwhile, many people here don't even have that privilege.
Is this the best it gets?
