Company directly caused employee to have a heat stroke and blamed him for delay

We purchased something for our new home that requires professional installation for warranty purposes and we've been waiting on the local company to come install it for about a month now. They had already rescheduled the installation date 3 separate times with no reasoning provided, just a text saying the date was pushed out. A little annoying, but not a huge deal. We can live without this thing being installed. Our new installation date was scheduled for tomorrow and today I got a call saying they would be pushing it out to Monday..again. Gotta admit, I was a little irritated and since this was the first time I actually had them on the phone asked what was causing all of these delays. Oh boy.. Our new installation date was scheduled for tomorrow and today I got a call saying they would be pushing it out to Monday..again. Gotta admit, I was a little irritated and since this was the first time I actually had them on the phone asked what was causing all of these delays. Oh boy..

This person, who appeared to be the manager or owner of this installation service, said their installer called in sick today and said he needed a couple of days to recover. Once again, not a huge deal. However, he then provided some additional context saying that the air conditioner in his delivery truck went out yesterday and that he believes that he got a heat stroke. It's hot as FUCK right now where I live so if he did drive around all day in a shitty delivery truck, carrying and installing these massive units all day, he absolutely would have gotten a heat stroke. I didn't really know how to respond to this so I think I just said something like “oh wow”. This is when things got spicy.

He proceeded to go on a rant where he blatantly used this employee as a scapegoat for all of the delays. Saying shit like “he really is a good guy but who knows what is going on with him” and “these are just the type of labor issues that everyone is facing nowadays”. About halfway through his rant I cut him off and sternly told him that his employee's health is exponentially more important than getting my unit installed 5 weeks late instead of 4 weeks late. He gave an “eh okay thanks bye” and hung up.

I was so heated when I hung up. And as always, there were about 25 different things that I wish I had said while I had him on the phone. But the worst part of it all? He didnt show a single fucking ounce of sympathy for his employee. To him, he was nothing more than a puppet for his shitty business.

Tldr; Employee got heat stroke due to his cheap company and their owner tried to use him as a scapegoat to explain why they were having delays
