Any contractors or people who lose pay for work being closed on holidays?

I work remotely for a large company (just bought by an even larger company for multi-billions of USD) as a contactor. This company closes on holidays (like Juneteenth and what they call “self-care” days) and pays their workers for the day off, but not contractors. So, I cannot work and lose a day of pay. How are some various ways antiwork people deal with this? Is it just “contractor-life” or is there something else I can do. Negotiating paid days with my agency are not an option (I tried–they said no). I do not just want to “work more” –just wondering how various people deal with it personally.
