I have been burnt out since last year and I thought maybe a new change would help me feel better so I took a contract to work in another hospital department. I was so so wrong. It wasn't about the department, I realize I'm just done with healthcare in general. Especially as clerical staff we don't get paid enough for all the BS (well no one does but ya) I have had ppl say awful racist sht to me to being barricaded in a room bc I was about to be physically attacked with sharp glass by a person. I'm done.
The problem is quitting healthcare is not easy. My hospital uses seniority system and I have alot of seniority hours so I can't really just “quit” my job else I lose all my hours worked and if I was to ever come back I would have to start from ground up once again.
My question is does anyone have stories of anything similar? And did you just quit and give up your seniority hours? Or dropped down to casual status?
Basically looking for good quitting healthcare/dropping down position stories and advice.
