We were just finishing up so some of our safety had come down(roofing Winnipeg MB) They immediately Demanded our names explaining that they “ didn’t have time for this” and to “ Cut the shit” Threatening us with fines to the workers (we’re all employees no owner on site) We explain that are just about to finish up(+38 degrees thunderstorms forecast) and they use their authority as an “Officer” to threaten us again apparently for lying to them. There’s a real discussion here around safety but this whole experience was unnecessarily jarring and stressful being threatened personal fines in the first 60 seconds makes me uncomfortable. Is there any resources can direct us to about our rights and how to navigate in the future? Names of everyone? Demanding information just to threaten us with lying to an officer? Personal fines!? (Their authority could have shut us down so we complied with everything they eventually let us get back to work, it wasn’t explained if the company would face further penalties)
