General Strike > Violent Overthrow

Our biggest limiting factor to propagate democratic change throughout the US is division, lack of organization and prioritization. Organization: Set division aside, if just everyone that was pro-choice engaged in a general strike at the same time that would be nearly 183 million US citizens (55%). Our economy and country would be brought to its knees within days and that’s when we would need to be ready to make our demands. Prioritization: Yes we could obviously make the demand to have abortion rights codified, but there are many issues that need tending to and what would be more effective is a restructuring of our democracy. Removing the filibuster, making lobbying & lobbyists illegal, campaign donations capped and only able to be received from individual citizens, shorten SCOTUS terms and making them determined by general election, elimination of the electoral college and have presidencies determined by a general vote, age limit…

Prioritization: Yes we could obviously make the demand to have abortion rights codified, but there are many issues that need tending to and what would be more effective is a restructuring of our democracy. Removing the filibuster, making lobbying & lobbyists illegal, campaign donations capped and only able to be received from individual citizens, shorten SCOTUS terms and making them determined by general election, elimination of the electoral college and have presidencies determined by a general vote, age limit for public service of 60, etc.

These are changes we all need to vote on.

If we are not so small in our thinking, rather than trying to fix one important law, we can lay down a foundation to fix the country.

The problem with a general strike though is that no one knows if everyone else is really going to follow through and doesn’t want to miss out on their wages for nothing. To solve this I was planning on building a website where people could make an anonymous unique profile and join planned general strikes by marking your status of attendance. We would also have a way to vote on the demands that will be made by the general strike. This way it provides all included assurance that the masses are behind them.

If they don’t want to give us the democracy which this country is built upon we don’t have to go to war to get it quite yet. We first just need to attempt to take it back by using the power all of us wield, our labor. If we are met with violence, then and only then, would it be reasonable to retaliate. Thoughts?
