When negotiating a raise or salary, remember it's not just about your performance metrics or qualifications. The market has alot to do with it, and it's now a worker's market.
The gas you are paying $5+ dollars a gallon for is no better than the gas you paid $3 for a couple years ago.
The rent you are paying for cost more than it did years ago, while it's still the same location, size, and condition.
The food you are paying for doesn't taste better or is more nutritious even though it costs more than last year. If anything, you're getting less food.
Remember, the market dictates your wage as much as your qualifications and performance.
