What it says on the tin. I should have known this job wouldn’t last long. I was told the person I replaced was fired for poor performance, then found a resignation letter dated for the day she was fired in the computer’s trash. I later found out every employee that had previously worked there was fired. In the three months I had this job, I never had a single complaint about my performance. I took on HR and graphic design/marketing responsibilities without a pay increase and built our summer catalog. Last Friday my boss asked me to order bubble wrap, I didn’t write it down and was distracted as I was on my way back to my office and forgot to order it. About 45 minutes into my workday today, my boss walked into my office and told me to pack up my things and leave. It’s unfair, but I live in an at will state. I have no idea where to go from here. Nothing could have made me anticipate this, so now I’m frantically applying to jobs. I have rent and bills to pay. I wish I would have at least been let go on Friday so I could have started my job search over the weekend.
