Question about Covid laws

I’ve been at a minimum wage job for about 5 weeks now in New York State, and 2 weeks ago i overhear a coworker say “Wasn’t (coworker) supposed to work today?” And my boss said “No, (coworker) has Covid. The bosses there told nobody that we were exposed to Covid(I asked others and they didn’t know either) and I was the only one who got it from him, still haven’t made a full physical recovery yet but I have been required to work. I had been sick for a few days prior to this so I immediately took a test after going home the day of this conversation, which was obviously positive. To make matters worse, this is a restaurant so my coworker and I could’ve infected customers unknowingly.
