Spouse and I were discussing her employers inability to hire anyone at all. We disagreed about them not offering enough pay. And then my spouse drops “a little hard work never hurt me”.
Had to rant a little. I remember like 17 years ago, spouse was afraid to report a neck/shoulder injury as it might interfere with a promotion and never received any treatment and has rarely gone a week without pain since then.
I also pointed out that I have broken six major bones at work, and realized I've never bothered to count fingers and toes as actual broken bones. I've suffered 5 concussions from hard work, one took a chip out of my skull. I've needed over 30 stitches from hard work, and enjoy tinnitus and permanent hearing loss. My finger's sensation I describe as like watching staticky tv, like they are permanently a little asleep.
Hard work has broken my body, and every single person I know who is seriously fucked up, the cause was hard work.
In fact, I don't know anyone who did hard work that doesn't have serious damage from it.
A little hard work might not hurt, a lifetime of it will absolutely destroy you.
