A previous workplace would have cake every week.

To celebrate birthdays, anniversaries or baby showers. Sometimes it would happen twice in 1 week. Don’t get me wrong cake is great, but when it served out multiple times you get sick & tired of it (regardless if there are different types and flavours). Harmless meaning, but most people would dread the cake and going to the meeting room to wish “happy x day”. The managers had a quarterly meeting, at the end they ask for feedback from my employees. One person said, “idea for less cake”, I quickly responded, “great idea, maybe once a month?”. I got a few positive feedback from my comment, as I spoke out and told how everyone was actually thinking. Later that afternoon, my manager had asked, “do you think that was the right thing to say, would you say it straight to the director?”. I said, “well, yes I would. Even though it…

Later that afternoon, my manager had asked, “do you think that was the right thing to say, would you say it straight to the director?”. I said, “well, yes I would. Even though it was an open forum, I wouldn’t hesitate to mention to the director as an IDEA”.

My manager was perplexed by my response, she thought I would back down.

I am happy I have left that company 1month later, and many other people have left.
