I and nine others were recently “let go” at the start of the month by a truly toxic work place – seeing things from the outside helped me realize how extremely toxic they were. With that, my final paycheck seemed to be a little lite, and it took me ages to sort out the maths they used… Being salaried they divided up each post period by 15 days including weekend instead of just the actual working days. Having put in a full 40 hour week my final week, and being paid for 3/4 of the time.
This didn't sit well with me, so I made inquiries with HR at my former employer, and they have me some BS run around excuse for a couple days with no clear results. After reading many times about wage theft on here, I read up briefly on final paycheck rules in Wisconsin, and informed them I would be making a complaint to the state if I didn't receive the missing funds by the end of the next week. This was on a Saturday, and within a couple hours they emailed me back saying they would pay the remaining 225$.
On top of that, one of my former coworkers thay was also fired reached out to me saying that he randomly got an email the following Monday saying they were paying him some extra money that he wasn't expecting, that it was apparently 'missed from his final paycheck'. I reached out to others too and they also received a similar email.
So yeah, thank you for helping me and my former coworkers recover a few thousand dollars between everyone that was fired.
