Advice – My contract states I’m required to give a 2 month notice period when resigning. I’m concerned my employer will turn round and fire me before those 2 months is over.

Hey everyone – so essentially I’ve had enough with an utterly toxic and unprofessional work environment that I currently find myself in. Tomorrow I was planning on handing in my notice, however re-reading my contract, I’m required to provide 2 months prior notice. I can live with this, as it gives me ample time to secure a new position elsewhere. However my concern is if they decide I’m not worth keeping on for the full two-months and simply fire me before that time, leaving me with no source of income. Any thoughts on this? Has it happened to you before? Is it even legal to do so? Appreciate the advice! TLDR: Quitting my job, contract says I have to give 2 months notice, can they fire me during this time without cause?
