Advice on how to negotiate interim pay for taking on a manager role?

I am a supervisor in a warehouse. I was hired to supervise a team of 3 receiving clerks and 4 (now 5) purchasing clerks. I was hired at an admittedly generous salary. Then, the manager of the warehouse quit, and I’ve taken on responsibilities well out of my original job scope. Activities include managing a team of 50, managing the schedule, doing payroll, updating HR records, leading daily team huddle, checking the sick call line at 4am daily, weekends and holidays included, doing inventory corrections, employee corrective action plans, managing driver insurance, and more. In my research, I’ve determined that the minimum starting salary for this role is $111,000. I’m currently making $83,000. When it came out that the manager would be leaving and I’d be taking this all on, the director (my boss), said with a chuckle, I’m getting awarded all of the work with none of the pay.…

I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t meet the minimum qualifications for the manager position, which is partly why I didn’t apply for the permanent role. However, I still feel I am owed interim pay for taking on the new responsibilities. If I’m not qualified to receive the title or salary, I’m not qualified to do the work and they should find another way to backfill, right? Any help with negotiation strategy is greatly appreciated.
