Advice regarding breaks (somewhat long)

I work at a chick fil a location inside a mall. Work is decent, I cannot complain about the workload because it can get busy because it's chick fil a. My problem is regarding breaks. My problem is regarding breaks. You see, I live in a state where breaks aren't required for those over 16, but my jobs handbook states as long as I work (at the minimum) 5 hours, I'm guaranteed to have a break somewhere in my shift.

For some days, since I work closing, my shift leader/manager tells me that I cannot have a break because I'm “closing” (this is a 5 hour shift), which confused me but I thought because it's the rules, I just couldn't get a proper break (except for eating a sandwich for lunch… Which takes me at least 2 minutes).

My problem lies with my 5 hour closing shift on Monday. On the clipboard that lists our our stations, my coworker with the same exact hours as me (closing) got a break, and I didn't. This baffled me.

I'm unsure of what to do about this. I want to text my boss, but I'm afraid of escalating the situation into something it shouldn't be. What do you guys think I should do?
