Hey y'all,
I'm based in the UK and work for a fairly large multi-national company. We are not in the type of industry which would come close to unionising (yet…), very corporate.
This year we've had almost offensive discussions around salary raises (2%) and are actively discouraged to discuss this with others… I know my rights in this regard but if I was to discuss this it would create a hostile environment for myself.
I was thinking of sending out an email to all European staff (using external email address, VPN, and public wifi) basically sending out a salary questionnaire to uncover pay discrepancies and pay rises this year.
I plan to then distribute this information via the same channels.
I hope this will be the start of bigger conversation and put pressure on the business…and perhaps the start of a unionised workforce.
Is there anything I have not considered with my plan? Any legal concerns? Open to thoughts, comments, or suggestions!
