6 months ago I was not hired for a fast food type place, entry-level, and I am 41. I needed a job right away (long story) but received this rejection text after the interview. Another place called me the following day and I got a job there just fine.
I filed an EEOC complaint just to see what happens. Redditors said “easy money” and a “lawyer's dream case”. I did call a couple of lawyers and they said it would not be worth their time. I'd win but so what, basically. The thing is, I admit – I am not out anything. So what is the complaint for? I just feel that companies shouldn't be able to get away with blatant age discrimination. I easily found another job, but maybe others might not. Large corporations should not get a free pass like this.
So, what do I say at the mediation? Do I push for $$? Snag some free meal coupons?
